In 1972 the U.S. Department of the Interior recognized Goddard Camp as the first National Environmental Education Landmark west of the Mississippi. Seminole Public Schools has been attending Goddard Youth Camp in Sulphur, OK since the early 1970's. Northwood 6th graders continue the Camp Goddard tradition each year. 6th grade teachers, students and a select group of high school students spend 5 days learning about the environment and unique geological formations that Goddard Youth Camp has to offer. The program is designed and taught daily by our own Seminole teachers, some who have spent 20 plus years bringing nature to life for our students. Goddard Youth Camp has a hands-on museum that offers Native American history and artifacts. The museum is also home to several dinosaurs!
6th Graders get the opportunity to begin competitive athletics at Northwood. We have a boys and girls basketball team and they play a 18 game schedule during the first semester! Our students practice after school for 1 hour two times per week. In order to participate, students are required to meet OSSAA Eligibility requirements. The program is ran by Coach Creel!
